Global Warming & Change Are Both Slow

Global Warming & Change Are Both Slow

Are you immune from influence and an independent thinker?

When I was in school we were taught about ‘global warming’. This term was first used in 1969. 🌏

Over the decades, the scientific community and society at large debated its validity.

Some might remember Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth”, it made an impression on a generation. But change is slow and not always obvious.

👉 It feels like we’ve only recently begun to use “climate change”.

But really it’s’ been used as early as 1988 in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Its’ use slowly picked up again in the early 2000s with the Bush administration. Then adopted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on its website in 2006.

Now we use the term “climate change” liberally and its ubitquous. Yet doesn’t quite feel as familiar as ‘global warming’.

We think change is overnight and explosive. Scandals and success stories, but really..

Change is subtle and permeates slowly.

📩 But this message is about our environment. And the mounting unseen cost to society. What I ask is for you to slow down and observe how might your consumption choices help us slowly change the decisions of your friends, community, big business and governments.
